Jerry Falwell ( 1933- 2007 ) -an American Fundamentalist and Evangelist, born in Lynchburg, Virginia; who became leader of the Thomas Road Baptist Church which he founded in 1956.His views on social issues reflected his faith in GOD and his respect for GOD's Laws in High Moral Standards, as a requisite for a successful nation with a leadership role as a positive influence in the world.
He was an effective and influential defender of the unborn in his uncompromised stance against abortion.
From a congregation of just 35, within 20 years, his church numbered about 16,000. In 1971 he founded the Lynchburg Baptist College, later renamed Liberty University.
His straight talking style cut through the clamor of confusion and deception, a quality too rare in public debate. He will be sorely missed among all who possess the ability to appreciate his true concern for people and country; and his elevated intelligence.
